Shimoga, officially renamed as Shivamogga, is a district of the state of Karnataka, India. Shivamogga is known as cultural capital of Karnataka. According to history the name is derived from ‘Shiva-Mukha’ – Face of Shiva , ‘Shivana-Mogu’ – Nose of Shiva, ‘Shivana-Mogge’ – Buds of flowers meant for Lord Shiva. The Shivamogga city lies on the banks of the Tunga River. Being the gateway for the hilly region of the Western Ghats, the city is popularly nicknamed as “Gateway of Malnad”. The Shivamogga city is 569 m above sea level and is surrounded by lush green paddy fields, Arecanut and Coconut groves.

Packed with several marvels of nature in form of picturesque landscape, gorgeous waterfalls, mystical temples and lush green surroundings, its raw beauty will leave you absolutely enchanted.
