Andhra Pradesh is a south eastern state of India. The state has a large coast line of nearly 974 km, temple destinations, lush green forests and spicy cuisine which have led to increase in domestic tourism in the last few years.It is bordered by Telangana in the north-west, Chhattisgarh in the north, Odisha in the north-east, Karnataka in the west, Tamil Nadu in the south and the water body of Bay of Bengal in the east. Hyderabad is the capital of both Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana but it remains the de jure capital for Andhra Pradesh.

Major cultural landmarks include Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, an ornate hilltop shrine to Hindu’s Vishnu, in the southern part of the state which is visited by tens of millions of pilgrims annually. The major northern port of Visakhapatnam has popular beaches like Ramakrishna and Rishikonda lining the Bay of Bengal, offering spots for swimming and surfing. Other pilgrimage centers in Andhra Pradesh include the Mahachaitya at Amaravathi, and the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada, while the state’s natural attractions include the beaches of Visakhapatnam, hill stations such as the Araku Valley and Horsley Hills, and the island of Konaseema in the Godavari River delta.
